Position overview We at EC Incubation Development Department (ECID) are responsible for the following small to mid-sized EC services.

Rakuma (flea market app) Rakuten Pay Online Rakuten Hometown tax service Rakuten Car (Secondhand car sales, auction, inspection booking etc.

J.LEAGUE Online Store (sales of football club goods, fan club entry) Buyback / Rental service Etc. (In addition, we will also launch new businesses that utilize the Rakuten ecosystem) We are looking for manager or leader candidates who want to be involved in the growth of these services while playing a role in enriching society and acquiring new revenue sources for the Rakuten Group.

Characteristics of our department Various teams developing the above diverse services are responsible for the planning, development, operation and maintenance of the services with a sense of responsibility and ownership.

We put our users first and are highly conscious of development productivity to provide value and to keep the system running stably.

In addition, because the types and scale of these services are different, they tend to be vertically segmented, making it difficult to generate cooperation between individual teams.

So, We try to break through this situation and share experiences, knowledge, information, and skills brought from the development of different services with each other.

As an example, the following events are held in the department. Committee activities that bring together people with an interest in the same topic, such as new technologies.

Department internal Lightning Talk to share knowledge and experiences gained in daily work and learning. A quarterly meetup event to present our achievements to each other.

Manager workshops to discuss common issues related to management work. The Personality We Seek ECID has a history of starting up and accepting many services and is gradually becoming a larger and larger organization.

Roles / Responsibilities (after being manager) Lead teams by showing the direction we are going, and remove obstacles and support to help them get there.

Manage people, assets, and money and conduct the hiring and procurement to maximize team results. Support the team's development quality and processes through review and approval processes when they are below expected level.

Sometimes you use your engineering or producing experience to help projects’ success, improve the development process and etc.

Understand your team members, make them aware through feedback, hold them accountable and delegate to them, and develop them through goal setting and evaluation.

Communicate your boss's instructions to your subordinates in your own words and report the status of your subordinates transparently to your boss.

Minimum Qualifications Experience as either a tech lead / product manager / project manager in development and operations of web services.

Practical experience with Agile / Scrum processes. Business-level Japanese and English communication. Experience as a development team leader / manager.

Curiosity and understanding of technology trends such as k8s, CI / CD, Public Cloud and etc. Communication skills to have constructive discussions with superiors / colleagues / stakeholders to understand each other and to reconcile solutions that respect the goals of both parties when face with problems or challenges.

Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of management accounting / financial accounting. Knowledge of web analytics / marketing.

Experience in talent management, recruitment, and evaluation of diverse cultures / nationalities. Languages : English (Overall - 2 - Intermediate), Japanese (Overall - 3 - Advanced)
