Job Description

We are looking for an experienced English-to-Japanese translator / editor for our Japan-language translation desk in Japan.

The desk forms an important part of Reuters' 24-hour Japanese news translation service. A successful candidate must have excellent translation, news judgement and editing skills and be knowledgeable about international news, especially for economic and business news.

He or she must be a good communicator and teamwork player.

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE 求められる技能や経験など

  • Excellent English-to-Japanese news translating / editing skills on various subjects with good Japanese writing skill.
  • At least three years of experience as professional news translator / editor
  • Solid knowledge of worldwide macroeconomics, financial markets, corporate activities.
  • Effective news judgement skill for Japanese client.
  • Experience in Japanese online news media is preferable.
  • Experience / skills or mind toward using modern technology, like AI translation, for business is required.
  • Good team player with excellent communication skills, strong commitment to the duty.

  • 様々なニュースを的確に選別できる知識と判断力があること
