Department Overview Data Science & AI Department, under the Tech Division, leads the transformation of Rakuten by commercialization of Artificial Intelligence, Cognitive Computing and Machine Intelligence Technologies for Rakuten businesses.

With access to Rakuten’s ecosystem of more than 70 services, global businesses and technology expertise across Asia, Europe and the Americas, AI Solutions Incubation Section goal is to ideate, develop and provide transformative AI products in the fields of Commerce, Financial Services, Marketing and other Rakuten focus areas.

AI Solutions Incubation Section accelerates the adoption and impact of AI ML technologies via utilizing billions of consumer and industry data points accumulated within Rakuten’s ecosystem.

Position : Why We Hire We are looking for a Product Manager who will be responsible for Rakuten’s data products to create and deliver AI / ML solutions, drive growth, and collaborate across the company to accelerate incubation and delivery of new AI / ML-based capabilities to impact the entire Rakuten ecosystem.

You will work with business leaders across the organization to understand the challenges that can be solved through innovative AI / ML-based solutions, and you will lead the teams to deliver those solutions.

Position Details Identify opportunities across Rakuten businesses for the use of AI and machine learning technologies to improve the experience of Rakuten ecosystem and accelerate the adoption and impact of AI / ML technologies.

Provide leadership on emerging topics and trends, while setting up a team to establish and deliver AI roadmaps across these focus areas to optimize productivity and efficiency.

Help Rakuten businesses, executives and stakeholders understand the capabilities and potential value of AI / ML as well as its limitations.

Work with clients and understand the industry landscape to define product direction, strategy, and build product roadmap.

Develop a rigorous product planning process to ensure speed and quality of product development and evolution. Drive the product lifecycle, analysis, and continuous improvements.

Define, measure, and improve key product metrics. Partner effectively across the services to execute the product plan and deliver the biggest impact.

Work closely with data scientists, UX designers, application engineers, and more to successfully scale the growth of the products.

Mandatory Qualifications : Demonstrable 5+ years of experience leading, growing, building, managing, and scaling world-class products and product management processes.

Strong understanding of both the technical aspects of machine learning and business needs and the ability to bridge the gap between business and technology with respect to machine learning Proven ability to define a product vision and strategy, communicate that across the company, and deliver a solution that is highly impactful and scalable.

Track record of creating innovative products for B2B, B2C, B2B2C, DaaS (Data as a Service), and or PaaS (Platform as a Service).

Self-reliant, good problem solver, and results-oriented. Quantitative and analytical skills, with a deep understanding of the Internet and knowledge of big data technologies.

Desired Qualifications : Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills and an ability to interface with senior management.

  • Understanding of the e-commerce and or ad-tech and or marketing tech industries. Demonstrated ability to achieve strategic goals in an innovative and fast-paced environment, and to evolve product strategy based on research, data, and industry trends;
