1. The purpose of this role is to develop health and safety related programs and activities, while with enforcing the requirements of the Japanese law and accreditations are adhered to and maintained.
Health and Safety Specialist will also lead the following health and safety activities as Eisei Kanrisya (Health Supervisor) under labor law.
Supervision of the staffs engaged in health and safety matters
The measures to prevent workers injuries
Educational program for health and safety of workers.
The measures for the employees to maintain their good health e.g. annual health check
Investigation of cause and corrective measures of workers injuries
Health and safety policies
Framework to plan, action, do, check of health and safety
The Health and Safety Specialist ensures compliance from health and safety perspective, ensures the workplace to be safe.
In addition to that, beyond compliance, he / she leads the programs for employees to maintain their good health.
He / she covers not only Tokyo office initiatives but also other Corp office locations by supervising the program and reports directly to HR Country lead based in Tokyo office.
Drives development of new processes and procedures for health and EHS activity.
Initiates the need for change, reviews and implements new policies, programs and procedures.
Build the brand for health team and enhance employee experience.
Drives cross-functional processes improvement initiatives.
Ensure effective training programs for employees.
Develop and implements complex and routine communication plans
Ensure the duties of health administrator under labor law to be completed.
Lead the health team
Ensure the accuracy and timing of necessary reporting and documentation to labor office.
Work with OH Physician (産業医) to develop the program and to be promoted smoothly
Ensure the necessary follow-up for employees who have overtime exceeding the defined hours.
Manage Health and Safety Committee activities which includes office inspections, minutes and communication to employees.
Manage health-related program and promote variety of activities and initiatives (e.g. new hire health check, annual health check, dental check, flu shot )
Work with health insurance society and manage the vendor’s services on health-related program and promote those programs for employees.
Work with EAP counselor for employee’s health.
Correspond to questions quickly and accurately from employees and vendors in timely manner
Manage safety confirmation framework for employees including the maintenance of safety confirmation tool.
Develop and conduct the audit process and ensure all processes is completed and accurate.
This role description provides the broad framework within which the post holder will operate. It will be the subject of regular review with the incumbent to ensure that it reflects the development of the role, the post holder, and the changes in service requirement and delivery.

8 plus years business experiences includes 5 plus years in HR or health (and safety) area.
Considerable knowledge of the followings;
local safety and health regulatory practice and labor laws
local practices of labor office investigations
Experience in managing employee’s health activities from the beginning to end, including propose, plan and conduct a variety of health related programs
Experience in managing Health and Safety Committee activities.
High ethical standards with proven ability to handle highly confidential and sensitive information
Excellent judgment & problem solving skills and attention to detail.
Must be able to work independently and has the ability to dive into the details with analytical approach
Solid background in proposal and promotion of health activities based on considerable knowledge and experience
Very good in English
Availability for domestic business trip to other Corporate office locations (bi-monthly basis)
Preferred the license for 産業保健士.
Bachelor’s degree in a safety and health field.
Experience in a fast paced, changing / growing organization.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Strong analytical skill with demonstrated problem solving ability.
