MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Engaging and visioning with communities

  • Ensures effective communication about World Vision’s identity, mission, vision, values and our approach to development.
  • This includes child sponsorship as integrated within broader community engagement process.

  • Develops and maintains a strong understanding of the local context, including government perspectives and plans, ensuring all voices are heard, especially those of children and youth, including the most vulnerable.
  • Supports critical awareness in community’s response to the well-being of children and other vulnerable groups and ensure participation of these groups in community development processes.
  • Facilitates effective working relationships between local stakeholder groups and between local partners and others outside the area.
  • Identifies new partners within and outside the community, identify how these partners can work together towards shared priorities for child well-being.
  • Mobilizes and support the creation and strengthening of groups of key stakeholders which catalyze community engagement to improve child well-being.
  • Facilitates local advocacy and support key community meetings / workshops designed to explore and identify key priorities for child well-being.
  • Community understands WV’s identity in this area and the role of child sponsorship.
  • Community agree upon vision and key priorities for child well-being.
  • Increased number of individuals, groups and organisations are motivated and committed to improving the well-being of children, especially the most vulnerable.
  • Partnering and planning with communities

  • Facilitate partnering / networking with and connections among different local stakeholders (formal and informal community groups, businesses, NGOs and local government agencies, etc.
  • to mobilize resources for the well-being of children.

  • Facilitate capacity building for communities and local partners in AP planning and annual community review
  • Facilitate AP planning activities at the assigned area
  • Facilitate annual community review and planning at the assigned area
  • Support communities and partners to develop and implement the community-based disaster preparedness plans
  • Implements activities in association with local partners.
  • Leads local planning processes using WV’s development programme approach.
  • Facilitates the development of multi-stakeholder partnerships.
  • Supports local level partners to identify needs and their underlying causes; and recognizing local assets and resources which could support them in meeting these needs, mobilize these in programme implementation.
  • Ensures technical experts from WV and partner agencies engage in the root cause analysis and project planning, assisting them to communicate with community in clear and practical ways and providing information about community needs.
  • Ensures local programme plans are shared with the Cluster Programme Manager and support is provided in the creation of annual area programme plans.
  • Community owned visions and plans for improving child well-being which are a combination of local priorities and global knowledge and good practice.
  • Resources needed to implement shared projects are identified and acquired.
  • Sponsorship integration project plans are finalised; roles and responsibilities of community, WV and others are agreed.
  • Children are registered for child sponsorship.
  • Local disaster management plans are in place.
  • Local development plans are in place and implemented.
  • 3. Sponsorship facilitation (in programmes where sponsorship is applicable)

  • Orients community on sponsorship messaging, integrated with broader community engagement process.
  • Manages ongoing education as part of broader community mobilisation process.
  • Manages ongoing capacity building of partners and community groups as part of integrated capacity building on CWB.
  • Facilitates development of child selection criteria through the CWB committee.
  • Supports CWB Committee in the child selection process.
  • Facilitates the use of Child Monitoring Standards to catalyse and advance community-led child protection mechanisms.
  • Responds to service operations indicators on a periodical basis through ongoing visits / activities.
  • Ongoing implementation of sponsor communication through programme activities as per the activity designs for individual engagements (agreements may be made with CWB committee for utilizing volunteers).
  • Completes queries on a periodical basis through ongoing visits / activities (agreements may be made with CWB Committee for utilising volunteers).
  • Facilitates and Support capturing Sponsorship Media - Child and Community Content as and when requested by Support Office.
  • Manages Sponsorship Key Business Process such as RC Management (Creating New Child Record, Reactivation, Reinstate, etc.
  • RC Monitoring (Child Well Being monitoring).

  • Facilitates AP team to create and design RC Inclusive Programmes / Activities (DIP) thus ensuring the participation of each Registered Child.
  • Child selection criteria is clear and well defined.
  • Sponsor communication is engaging and meaningful.
  • Sponsor communication is processed as per sponsorship standards.
  • 4. Partner and community capacity building

  • Facilitates capacity building that helps create an environment that promotes the rights, protection and participation of youth and children, including the most vulnerable.
  • Builds the capacity of WV and partner community groups to deliver the joint outcomes effectively.
  • Trains and coach partner community groups on appropriate skills and self-assessment methods to build their capacity for management of local initiatives.
  • Identifies and engage relevant capacity building support from technical experts in WV and in partner agencies, as required.
  • Capacity of local partners grow over time.
  • Community is empowered and has ownership of their projects.
  • Local stakeholders are able to mobilise their own resources and acquire needed resources from external sources.
  • Local stakeholders have an increased capacity to mitigate and manage disaster risk.
  • 5. Implementation and monitoring with communities and partners

  • Uses a smartphone for monitoring and other key Sponsorship business processes, including managing and updating key Sponsorship data and rich media.
  • Leads implementation of technical programmes within the allocated primary focus area.
  • Facilitates establishment of monitoring processes and systems through CWB Committee including volunteer arrangements.
  • Coordinates ongoing monitoring through CWB Committee or volunteers who report to CWB Committee.
  • Facilitates community, including the most vulnerable, to participate in the gathering of, reflection upon and learning from monitoring data.
  • Contributes to analysis and interpretation of monitoring data.
  • Ensures monitoring data is shared with relevant WV staff.
  • Ensures reports on shared projects are communicated within community as agreed with partners.
  • Assists partners in documenting their own learning.
  • Facilitates the use of CMS to catalyze and advance community-led child protection mechanisms.
  • Utilizes knowledge assets to improve programmatic outcomes.
  • Monitoring indicators are set with partners for all the implemented projects.
  • Shared projects are implemented successfully, resulting in tangible and lasting improvements in the lives
  • of children, especially the most vulnerable.
  • Monitoring, reflection and evaluation are conducted jointly with communities and partners.
  • Learning is documented and shared as required within WV and within communities.
  • 6. Programme team support and development

  • Engage in own personal learning and development and spiritual maturity and contribute to the development of colleagues.
  • Contribute to ongoing reflection and learning within the team to improve programme performance.
  • Programme team learning culture enhanced over time.
