Job Description :

We are looking for staff to join the compliance and planning teams of Rakuten, the parent company of Rakuten Group.

The team to which the applicant belongs will be decided after considering the applicant's intentions, experience, ability and aptitude.

Since taxation has a significant impact on a company's cash flow, we are involved in a wide range of activities, not only in tax filing and closing, but also in business start-up and M&A from the planning stage, as well as in the planning and execution of international tax strategies, which are important management issues.

In line with the Group's reorganization on April 1, 2019, we are looking for an individual to work in a broad range of tax areas in order to build a structure that will enable us to implement global tax planning and governance.

Compliance Team

You will be responsible for understanding and complying with the increasingly complex tax system and promoting appropriate tax returns (the introduction of consolidated taxation is under consideration).

In addition, you will be able to work with the Accounting Department on the quarterly tax team, corporate tax, and tax effect accounting.

Review of each tax return (prepared by a consulting tax accountant)

Providing information and communication to tax advisors

Consideration of the introduction of a consolidated taxation system

Support for recording corporate tax, business tax, non-deductible consumption tax, and business office tax

In addition to tax filing services, you will provide the following tax advice and governance services, mainly in Japan.

Respond to tax consultations from each business division and group company.

The Company has established a tax governance system for the purpose of understanding the tax matters of each group company and sharing tax cases.

Formulate and implement policies to respond to tax reform

Responding to tax investigations and preparing documents for national tax inquiries

Planning Team

We recognize that tax planning is an important team issue in terms of global corporate competition. You will be extensively involved in such tax planning.

Planning and proposing tax planning from a global perspective and making proposals to management

Project management when executing the plan

Tax support for mergers and acquisitions (review of structures and countermeasures for tax DD results)

Provide tax support (e.g., contract review) for significant contracts with clients (including sports clubs, players, etc.).

Consideration of domestic and international group transactions from a tax perspective

The impact of BEPS requires global companies to comply with the tax laws of each country and to establish an appropriate compliance system.

From this point of view, you will research the systems and procedures in Japan and other countries and take the necessary actions.

Research on taxation and tax treaties in each country

Transfer pricing documentation (local file, master file, CbCR, etc.)

Preparation of a schedule for the taxation of combined foreign subsidiaries

Communicate with the tax staff of each regional control company and collect tax information of each overseas subsidiary.

Required skills and experience

Compliance Team

Roughly 3 years of experience in a tax accountant corporation or accounting firm.

Experience in consolidated taxation system and tax effect accounting

Planning Team

Business level communication skills in English

More than two years' experience in transfer pricing taxation and international taxation (however, we will consider candidates with important experience in Japan's corporate reorganization taxation system, Japan's consolidated taxation system, etc.)

Common Items

You are able to communicate positively with internal and external stakeholders and have a light footwork (although you may have to think things through during the planning stage, you need to work not only at a desk, but also in a light-hearted manner while talking to many stakeholders)

A flexible attitude that is not confused by the fast pace of business development

Fluent Japanese language skills are required.
