We are hiring a WTG Inspector for a medium term contract on a three month rotation in Japan.


Our client, a Japanese developer, are looking to appoint an experienced WTG Inspector, the role will report to the Quality Manager.

You will be part of a small but dedicated project team working on a Japanese offshore wind farm project.

You will proactively ensure that the works are carried out based on the contract requirements with respect to approved drawings, procedures, project specifications and standards.

Your tasks include but not limited to : -

  • Monitor WTG contractor activities are in accordance with approved procedures and work instructions;
  • Conduct inspections of WTG components onshore in preassembly area, including incoming inspections and pre-loadout inspections;
  • Conduct take-over inspections offshore;
  • Review of onshore and offshore CIF / SIF (inspection checklists) and takeover documentation, to verify status and completion of works, NCRs and punch list items.
  • Undertake onshore and offshore ad-hoc inspections as required on behalf of the WTG package;
  • Undertake preassembly and offshore M&E 'reference WTG' inspections with the contractor inputting to the quality standard agreed;
  • Maintain an 'outstanding work list' tracker and monitor close-out process;
  • Monitoring coating and general component repairs as required;
  • Identify non-conformities and report to the Quality Manager;
  • Support in managing aspects of the pre-assembly site including general progress updates, interface management, assisting in the resolution of conflicts and issues between contractors;
  • General administrative tasks within the Quality and WTG package including updating and managing of progress trackers;
  • Liaising with team on installation vessel and commissioning team to share information as required.
  • Creation, inputting and reviewing project quality templates and processes;
  • Attend daily and weekly internal and external quality meetings;
  • Provide Daily Progress Reports;
  • Provide input to the internal monthly report;
  • Ensure that relevant Health and Safety risks are identified, made known to the project team and properly managed;
  • Work proactively with Vestas quality and site teams.
  • Support in the planning and undertaking of emergency drills on site :
  • Ensure that all statutory and regulatory requirements are met;
  • Ensure high focus on safety is maintained.
  • Your profile

    You will have experience in similar roles with emphasis on preassembly and offshore WTG inspections and be able to demonstrate knowledge of WTG quality aspects and industry standards within the offshore windfarm sector.

    Experience and professional qualifications

  • Min. 3 years' experience in similar roles in the offshore wind sector.
  • Preferable to have experience in Vestas quality processes and of the 3 / 4MW Vestas WTG
  • Full GWO training and offshore medical maintained throughout the contract period. (revalidations must be undertaken during home leave)
  • Computer literate in Microsoft applications and online QC software
  • You are cooperative and a dedicated team player yet also able to work independently.

    You must thrive in a hectic environment and be capable of handling numerous tasks simultaneously without losing perspective.

    You must be respective of different cultures and methods of working.
