GMR is Intel’s Agency of Record supporting their sponsorship activation for the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 to advance and showcase cutting-

edge technologies such as 5G and Artificial Intelligence, spectacular and unique drone activations, bring a deeper level of fan engagement through TrueVR and True View technologies, and push boundaries through esports activations and engagements.

We are looking for strong talent to drive Intel’s business priorities and support our global operations team on planning and activation logistics for Intel’s B2B VIP Olympic Customer Experience Hospitality Program in Tokyo.

The Tokyo based Account Director will be the eyes and ears of the GMR US team and our Intel clients to help us stay 1 step ahead of the competition.

This will include building relationships with key stakeholders, Olympic partners, TOCOG representatives and Intel Japan contacts to gain a solid understanding of city and Olympic operations, partner activations, and be able to provide key insights to support the overall activation.

The core GMR Intel Olympic Account Team is based in San Francisco. This position will be based in Tokyo and will report into and work closely with the team in San Francisco.

YOUR IMPACT / / Responsibilities include, but are not limited to : Serve as day-to-day local market lead contact for key Japanese stakeholders and vendors.

Build strong relationships with TOCOG, Olympic Partners, Government Agencies, Vendors, and Intel Japan. Provide insights to US based GMR team and clients on : Japanese culture, Japanese business executive priorities / expectations, Tokyo news and updates, Olympic news and updates, local partner news, etc.

Logistics management in support of the US based GMR team for B2B Hospitality Program planning : transportation, hotel room blocks, restaurants, venues, décor, production, entertainment, photographers, printed material production, custom gifting, branded staff uniforms, office equipment rentals, etc.

Vendor relationship building, negotiation, contracting, payment, and onsite management. Create client facing PowerPoint presentations that present information clearly and strategically.

Develop / maintain a thorough working knowledge of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games including key contacts, venues, sponsors, sports, etc.

Interview, hire and train staff for onsite contract positions with support from broader GMR Tokyo team. Manage junior Japanese staff including coaching, quality control, and skills development.

Arrange and facilitate Tokyo site inspection meetings and logistics for US based GMR and Intel teams several times per year.

Onsite program support (as part of the broader US based team) daily hospitality program operations, vendor management, and itinerary execution.

Must be available from July 1 August 15, 2020 to be dedicated to onsite position in central Tokyo. The GMR team works as a collaborative unit, and the client needs change frequently, therefore the above list is subject to change as our scope and priorities may shift.

  • We require candidates to be flexible and work well as part of a team. YOUR EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS / / Bachelor’s Degree required;
  • additional education in Business, Sports Management, Marketing, Tourism or Hospitality Management is an asset. 7 10 years of experience in event or logistics management .

    Strong written and verbal English and Japanese communication skills are required as the majority of work will be done in English and client presentations will be done with clients based in the US.

    Previous Olympic experience is preferred but not required. Experience with large scale event management is preferred. Previous experience working within an agency is preferred.

    Candidates must display the following : Experience vetting and hiring vendors and staff. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
