As the principal financial advisor and business partner for the Japan operations and as a member of the country leadership team :

  • Responsible for overall leadership of all aspects of financial control, planning and forecasting, and business partnership
  • Partner with the General Manager and sales management to develop and implement business strategies which will meet short and long-term performance goals.
  • Model of respect and ethical behavior and perform role as Company Director
  • Ensure the provision of accurate and timely financial information and reporting to internal, group related and external parties.
  • Ensure systems of internal controls are in place and effective; that group and local policies and procedures are complied with;
  • and that they all evolve to continuously meet the changing nature of the business.

  • Continually strive to improve and develop the business and financial systems, procedures, and reporting.
  • To ensure that the Company’s agreed financial and quality standards are maintained with regard to its products, procedures, policies, operations and customer contact

    Business partnering

  • Works closely with local business leaders and is actively involved in decision-making process with respect to making sound profitability and margins-
  • based business decisions

  • Provide financial information and advice to Management Team
  • Member of country leadership team and contributes fully on key business issues
  • Finance Function

  • Reviews, analyzes and interprets financial information to provide business pro-active advice as a partner to business leadership.
  • Participate actively in key management and business decisions.

  • Directs all aspects of accounting operations, resource allocation and financial planning & budget / forecast activities.
  • Oversees the development of financial accounting systems required to maintain reporting and statutory requirements.
  • Review and approve recommendations for financial planning and control, providing relevant fiscal information to the executive management team.
  • Monitor SBU and Function adherence to approved budgets.

  • Liaise and build relationships with external and internal parties; including banks, auditors, tax and statutory authorities, and advisors
  • Develop tools, processes and systems to provide critical financial and operational information
  • Monitor cash flow and forecasting, with a specific emphasis on maximizing cash flow and minimizing days sales outstanding (DSO)
  • Establish, monitor and maintain appropriate internal controls to safeguard financial assets.
  • Interact with other managers to provide consultative support to planning initiatives through financial and management information analysis, reporting, financial modelling and recommendations
  • Assists with negotiation of contracts related to distributors, projects and services with customers
  • Provides tax, insurance and other reports required by governmental regulations.
  • Participate with other senior managers to develop and implement business strategies and tactics.
  • Drive change in cross-functional business systems and processes to improve productivity and cost efficiency.
  • Act as primary co-coordinator & ensure compliance with Corporate and Local Policies for example Travel and Entertainment and Interactions with Health Care Partners’.
  • Ensure major capital expenditure requests comply with budgets and approval systems
  • Represent the organization in dealings with external providers such as legal counsel, auditors, bankers
  • Ensure that the accounting records of the company are properly maintained in accordance with both corporate and statutory requirements. This includes :
  • o Cash receipts and payments

    o General journals

    o Payroll records including Group Tax / Payroll tax records

    o Company Assets

    People developer - Building a strong Finance team

  • Manage, motivate and guide Finance employees to ensure they have a clear understanding of Business and Functional Goals within the context of Corporate Objectives.
  • Improves team efficiency and effectiveness
  • Responsible for the management of staff including selection, direction setting, feedback and coaching, performance management, rewards and recognition and development planning.
  • Qualifications


  • Degree qualified in accounting and finance from a top tier university
  • Post graduate accounting qualifications, MBA highly regarded
  • At least 10 years commercial finance and accounting experience in a global firm
  • At least 10 years successfully managing a team and function, highly developed people management skills - ability to lead, manage and motivate by example
  • Experience as Company Director
  • Experience with systems such as SAP and JDE
  • Highly developed analytical and financial skills gained in complex multinational businesses
  • Experience working in healthcare industry
  • Computer literacy including advanced knowledge of the MS Office suite of software.

  • Technically sound in accounting, statutory matters and accounting related tools
  • Drive - Energetic, self-motivated and able to work autonomously
