As a member of the Global Communications and Public Affairs team, you will work cross-functionally to help communicate with journalists and other thought leaders and devise specific communications materials and campaigns based on understanding of journalists' interests.
You will engage in meetings with commentators and other opinion formers, develop material supporting these campaigns, and counter misinformation that might interfere with our business and ability to serve our users.
We help inform and educate users, advertisers, partners, opinion leaders and our own employees about the benefits of Google's products, our distinctive company culture / values and our approach to the big public policy issues of the day.

Develop, manage and execute proactive PR campaigns for specific Google products or issues; serve as company spokesperson on selected media opportunities in product or focus areas.
Collaborate with Google engineering, product, sales, policy and marketing teams to create compelling communications strategies that illustrate the functionality and key benefits of our consumer and advertising products.
Manage many media inquiries, determining the potential risks and opportunities of the inquiry and recommending next steps.
Develop close, productive relationships with journalists, product reviewers and our key partners in Japan.
Develop written materials, including story pitches, messaging guidelines, press releases, Q&As, presentations and speeches.
Manage a PR agency to help support day-to-day inquiries, special projects, and events.
Minimum qualifications :
Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
7 years of relevant communications work experience.
Ability to speak and write in English and Japanese fluently.
Preferred qualifications :
Experience in strategic planning and thinking in communications activities; excellent attention to detail and the ability to deliver communications plans.
Understanding of technology issues or an ability to learn about them quickly, as well as an understanding of the media and entertainment industries
Demonstrated ability to work calmly and maintain good judgment in fast-paced, high-stress environments, as well as ability to escalate appropriately.
Ability to think, plan and execute on multiple projects simultaneously in an organized fashion.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and ability to work effectively with senior management and stakeholders.
