Overview :

WeWork Japan is looking for Senior Accountant who will be responsible for a multitude of deliverables in accounting operations.

Japan Accounting team works cross-functionality with Shared Service, FP&A, Tax, Treasury and other non-finance departments across global WeWork networks.

For this reason, the Senior Accountant is expected to be both a true team player and an independent performer.

Responsibilities :

  • Play a major lead role in day to day operations and month end close, including journal entry preparation, performing analytics, reporting, and reconciliations
  • Play a role of subject matter expert ( SME ) in Japan accounting and operations
  • Research and advise on various accounting topics and transactions as they arise
  • Assist the SOX / internal control team to develop and maintain control procedures and related documentation
  • Support global and regional interim and year-end financial statement audits
  • Support global and regional tax requirements from accounting perspective (i.e. statutory financial compilation)
  • Continually develop, expand, and improve financial reporting procedures for various financial schedules
  • Coordinate projects and initiatives with other members of the Accounting, Tax, Financial Systems, and Shared Service teams
  • Proactively and independently reach out to key stakeholders in the global WeWork networks and drive effective communications to deliver results as an individual effective contributor
  • Key Characteristics & Experience

  • 3 to 5 years progressive work experience in accounting
  • Detail-oriented and self-sufficient
  • Self-learner and self-starter without A-to-Z spoon-feed support
  • Fast executor with mobility
  • Strong ownership and willingness to go beyond the current scope of assignment
  • Ability to dive deep and connect multiple problems to identify a common solution
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to work under uncertainty and unorganized environment (i.e. no SOP, no system, no policy)
  • Ability to effectively and concisely communicate with all levels of counterparty in organization
  • Ability to lead junior members in the team with example
  • Ability to involve key stakeholders and facilitate an organized effort to deliver
  • Has aspiration to take on a bigger scope of responsibilities including a managerial role eventually
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Hands on experience with ERP systems (Workday, SAP, Oracle, etc.)
  • Has a comprehensive knowledge of US GAAP
  • Bi-lingual capability in Japanese and English
