Job Purpose

The scrum master is a critical member of the Agile Product Team. He / she is responsible for ensuring the team lives agile values and principles and follows the processes and practices that the team agreed they would use.

The responsibilities of this role include : Clearing obstacles, establishing an environment where the team can be effective, and oversee the scrum and development team.

The individual must be knowledgeable in Agile methodology and scrum and able to educate others. He / she also acts as a buffer between the engineering team, UX / UI team and product owner and maintain a safe working environment for the team by helping with conflict resolution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the adoption of the Agile Scrum development methodology standards and support the successful implementation across 1-2 Agile Scrum Teams simultaneously.
  • Guides and coaches the 1-2 Scrum Teams on how to use Agile practices and principles to deliver high quality products and services to our customers.
  • Gets team to a high performing level by recognizing areas of strength and improvement and employing appropriate coaching and development techniques.
  • Responsible for ensuring Scrum is understood and the team adheres to Scrum theory, practice, and guidelines.
  • Coaches the Scrum team in self-organization, cross-functional skillset, domain knowledge and communicates effectively, both internally and externally working within the Scrum team.
  • Works with 1-2 Scrum Teams, as well as internal and external stakeholders, to influence and drive decision making and support organizational project or product teams.
  • Resolves team impediments with other Scrum Masters to increase the effectiveness of the application of Scrum in the organization.
  • Works with Agile coaches and other Scrum Masters to grow within the role.
  • Contributes to the advancement and improvement of Agile practices within the organization.
  • Facilitates and supports all scrum events : Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review, and Sprint Retrospective.
  • Acts as a leader who coaches and supports Agile teams assigned to mainly Business as Usual (BAU) work and to a lesser degree, important department initiatives and applicable portions of corporate projects and initiatives.
  • Support the preparations, inputs & outputs of working meetings and works across development, tech and business teams on business strategy alignment, dependencies, risks and capacity
  • Cross team delivery : Mastery of complex facilitation and dependency management techniques (cross team, cross department)
  • Knowledge / Education Required

    Minimum Level of Education Required

    Degree in computer science or related field is desirable although relevant experience is equally valuable.

    Preferred Level of Education


    Any industry recognised qualification in Agile Development, DevOps.

    Why is it required?

    An understanding of the DevOps model and Sprint Development to deliver Minimal Viable Products is preferred.

    Previous Experience Required

    Minimum Level of Job-Related Experience Required

  • min. 2 years relevant (e.g. Scrum management, Programme Management, Service Management) experience in Tech organization
  • Experience in solution design, programme and product delivery and service management
  • Experience in delivering business impact through process and Tech enabled solutions
  • Experience of vendor management
  • Excellent relationship management, strong influencing and communication skills
  • Content knowledge of respective functional area helpful (business operating models, processes & products)
