S. Europe and Asia. Since 1983 we have been designing manufacturing and marketing premium audio and noise management systems for world-
class nameplates such as Porsche Infiniti Nissan Renault Mazda Buick Cadillac Chevrolet and GMC.
The Automotive Systems Division (ASD) at company is seeking a Regional Sales Manager to work in our office in Tokyo Japan.
Primary responsibilities will include managing our commercial relationships with existing customers in Japan. This mainly includes selling new product / technology RFP / RFQ management price management requirements capturing contract review forecasting change requests and product development support.
This role also includes working as part of a global cross-functional team to identify pursue and secure new business development opportunities.
A qualified candidate will be able to work effectively in global team environment as well be able to identify and solve problems thru close communication and collaboration with other offices around the world and other key functions including Engineering Sales and Marketing Technical Sales Product Planning Account Services Finance and Supply Chain.
The position will initially report to our Business Manager in Japan.
Specific responsibilities include :
1.) Working closely with folks in Sales and Marketing team to identify new business pursuit opportunities develop strategies support advanced concept and selling activities and gather customer specific requirements in preparation for the RFQ process
2.) Managing the Quotation Submission process including the capturing of commercial or contractual requirements our internal governance (known as the Program Approval process) and the customer RFQ or RFQ response process as well as all subsequent change requests or negotiations necessary to secure the business
3.) Maintaining component pricing including inputs into our New Product Planning Process (price setting for new products) RFQ responses purchase contracts annual price negotiations and change management activities.
Pricing is maintained in both SAP and in our Saphran forecasting tool.
4.) Identifying and maintaining key customer contacts who are responsible for making influencing or implementing supplier sourcing decisions
5.) Maintaining a short medium and long-term forecast including opportunities volumes and pricing
6.) Working closely with company's Legal to review and negotiate customer contracts including NDA’s master purchase agreements LOI’s and basic terms and conditions
7.) Working closely with Product Development and Supply Chain team members to support change requests prototype and pre-
production orders and other pre-SOP launch and go-to-market activities
Four-year college degree in Business Engineering or Finance. MBA is preferred but not required.
1.) 10+ years work experience in the automotive industry in a sales or business development role at a Tier 1 supplier selling factory-
installed components directly to OEM’s
2.) 5+ years work experience at a U.S. or European automotive supplier is a must. Experience working or studying in the U.S. or Europe is preferred.
3.) Language : Fluent to speak read and write in English at a business level. Must be able to speak read and write English at a near-native level
4.) Experience selling audio software or complex electrical systems is required
5.) Strong analytical business communication and organizational skills are required. Must be able to demonstrate the ability to effectively solve problems across time zones cultures and functions.
Weekly domestic visits to customer’s HQ R&D and factory locations in Japan plus periodic visits to company HQ or other regional offices.
The candidate will be expected to spend approximately 3 weeks for training in HQ and Tokyo during their first 90 days.
