Local Unit & Position Description

The Product Line Renewables and Ocean Structures is seeking an experienced engineer to be part of our Customer Success team.

We are looking for an engineer with experience within structural analyses of offshore wind turbine to provide support and domain expertise to both our SESAM customers and the DNV sales teams.

Sesam is a software suite for hydrodynamic and structural analysis of renewables, offshore and maritime structures accompanied by interfaces to Bladed (DNV’s market leading wind turbine design software).

The successful applicant will build excellent relationships with customers by providing a high-quality product support service, including training, on engineering topics while actively contributing to advancing our online offering.

In addition, Customer Success Engineers provide their expertise to the pre-sales process (e.g. technical workshops, marketing events, webinars, etc), and also the Sesam product development by carrying out testing and analyses relating to new software features.

This role will have a particular focus on pre-sales activities in the Japan and will work closely with the Japan Sales Team.

Customer Success is part of the Product Centre that is responsible for software development, technology, architecture, customer support, pre-sales, training, testing and operations of advanced engineering software including Sesam, Bladed, WindFarmer and SolarFarmer.

The Product Centre consist of 110+ dedicated staff in multiple locations across the world with the main locations being Oslo, Bristol, Shanghai, US and Gdynia.

The Customer Success team consist of around 18 dedicated domain engineers with strong competences within hydrodynamics, wind turbine engineering, structural engineering and coupled analysis.

Main responsibilities :

  • Participate in a multi-disciplinary (software and engineering) product support team by providing engineering and product knowledge support to customers
  • Provide Sesam training for customers online and at customers’ offices
  • Assist in Pre-sales activities together with our sales managers, by being part of meetings and sessions with potential customers, providing technical insight to the software and its use
  • Contribute to creating material for trainings and pre-sales, online documentation and support customer experience
  • Contribute with domain input to software development
  • Participate in collaboration forums aiming at creating cross-unit competence groups addressing sharing of information, industry best practices, domain competence and help drive innovation
  • Position Qualifications

  • PhD / MSc within relevant engineering / science disciplines
  • 5 years industry experience within relevant areas focusing structural analyses of marine structures, using Sesam or other relevant software
  • Advantage with experience in offshore wind structures
  • Enthusiastic to learn new things
  • Ability to think creatively, take initiative and inspire others
  • Fluent written and verbal communication in Japanese and English
  • Able to communicate in a clear, open, active and honest manner (verbal and written) and seeks understanding of other views
