Job outline
Primary responsibility is controlling the quality of Japanese translation for assigned account, with special focus on linguistic quality assurance of localized software products.
Working with Global Language Quality Manager, participate in communicating with customer in Japan and abroad to help define Japanese specific quality requirements, select and train translation resources, and establishing workflows to achieve quality goals.
Duties
Coordinate closely with Lionbridge global account team to contribute to account success
Communicate with client in Japan and establish a good relationship
Determine and document client quality requirements
Based on quality requirements, develop optimal workflow, select translation resources (conduct trials and evaluate results), onboard and train translators, establish quality management system.
Coordinate and supervise the linguistic quality assurance process (linguistic testing) throughout project and sign-off on overall quality of Japanese deliverables to client.
Create and provide opinion about language specific test cases for software testing purposes according to requirements.
Perform other linguistic and testing tasks which are crucial for assurance of Japanese language quality as needed.
Be the linguistic point of contact for Japanese with both the customer and internal account teams
Explain to non-Japanese speaking stake holders at customer the specific elements and requirements of Japanese typography (as it effects their development of software features for Desktop and web publishing products)
Effectively drive and communicate evolving customer requirements and priorities to all internal stakeholders to unify the style, tone, and quality across the language team.
Analyze and develop improvement plans based on review audits and proactive quality monitoring of translation team.
Qualifications
Ability to identify and analyze problems, ability to accurately evaluate linguistic quality in translations
5 or more years' experience in localization industry
Ability to grasp customer requirements and deliver quality service
Ability to communicate proactively with both clients and internal teams
Preferred : experience with linguistic testing of Japanese software products
Preferred : publishing / linguistic education, experience in fields of philology, history of Japanese language, publishing or printing fields (be it comics, books, journalism, etc.)
