Position Summary :
As a Field Application Scientist 2, he / she will provide applications support (installation, system validation, customer training, pre / post sales technical consult) to customers using Illumina's high throughput sequencing systems.
Position Responsibilities :
Coordinating and executing on installations including facility inspections, instrument validation, and customer training, with limited detailed instructions.
Troubleshooting issues related to user's technical skills, biochemistry / assay design, experimental design, software and instruments, including complicated cases, managing customers according to their situation with broader perspective.
Developing and maintaining positive relationships with customers in assigned territory.
Helping to maintain and increase product usage and supporting sales efforts through technical presentations and demonstrations.
Contribute to improve key company processes that support our mission of building a world-class customer support organization.
Acting as a key contributor of customer feedback to marketing and product development teams.
Acting as a good contributor to build better field applications team.

Position Requirements :
Outstanding problem solving and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated high-level written and verbal communication
Excellent communication skills in English
Native or native-equivalent Japanese skills for crucial conversations with customers in tough situations
Position will require traveling in the region
Minimum 2 years of experiment experience in life science filed
Excellent knowledge and skills in molecular biology

Preferred Experience / Education / Skills :
Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Genetics or related field, with more than 3 years of related experience. Ms or PhD is an advantage
Experience in supporting medical devices is preferred
Experience in clinical NGS applications is preferred
Experience in bioinformatics data analysis in the genome sciences is preferred
Prior field experience supporting customers using sequencing or array technologies preferred
Demonstrated experience with next gen or high throughput sequencing library preparation technologies and protocols preferred
Demonstrated experience with instrumentation such as liquid handling robotics preferred
Demonstrated understanding of commonly-used NGS data analysis software preferred
