We need a team player with a passion to partner with a business, transparent but sensible, comfort with ambiguity and self-motivated.

This role provides strategic HR support within Marketing Division, which covers group-wide branding, creative and marketing activities throughout all Rakuten Group.

In addition, this role also includes team management function. Since our HR function consists not only of HRBP but also of HR professionals covering recruiting, OD, HRD and HR operations, management of one of or some of those teams will also be in scope for the position.


  • Will act as HRBP / HR Manager of Marketing Division under Senior HRBP / Senior HR Manager to cover some of following initiatives based on past experience;
  • Manage HR team and its members
  • Consults with business leaders and / or members to determine critical need
  • Plans, craft and execute organizational and talent development program
  • Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (coaching, counseling, career development, etc.)
  • Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention
  • Support employee engagement efforts and reinforce desired culture
  • Serve as a change management leader to effectively drive change among organization
  • Drive HR operation improvement to standardize processes for efficiency and effectiveness
  • Analyzes trends and metrics HR data to watch the condition of the employee and organization
  • Support recruiting activity when needed
  • Participate in specific projects as assigned
  • Minimum Qualifications

  • 10+ years work experience including 3+ years team management experience and at least 2 years experience as HR Generalist or HRBP
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills in Japanese and English
  • Ability to coach, mentor and advise when appropriate
  • Ability to develop strong trusting relationships with stakeholders
  • Be flexible and available to interact with people at all levels
  • Willingness and demonstrated ability to work in teams
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and Microsoft Outlook
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree or relevant qualifications
  • Ability to execute foundational Project Management skills where needed and appropriate
  • Proficiency in Workday HRIS
