Job Description

SRF-JRMC Fire Safety Officer Assistant.

  • The Contractor shall serve in Code 380 as a Fire Safety Officer.
  • The Contractor is responsible for administering and managing all aspects of the Industrial Ship Fire Safety Prevention and Response program for their assigned schedule ship repair availability (SRA) under SRF-
  • JRMC’s cognizance, including, but not limited to, active participation in the advance planning process and daily project team meetings, providing fire safety prevention and response training to SRF-

    JRMC, ship, and contracted repair personnel, developing and overseeing execution of temporary service installation plan in support of a wide variety of shipboard equipment and systems, leading and conducting daily compliance walkthroughs of the ship, identifying Safety of Ship issues on immediate and long range planned work and developing conforming solutions to resolve or mitigate risks, overseeing high risk evolution's and coordinating completion of prerequisite safety checklists, preparing and maintaining required records, and providing daily status briefs to the Fire Safety Division Chief.

  • The Contractor shall serve as the chairman for the Fire Safety Council, identify and address potential and / or existing fire safety deficiencies, develop short-
  • term and long-term corrective action recommendations for the Fire Safety Division Chief’s review and approval, and ensure satisfactory execution of approved recommendations.

  • The Contractor shall maintain liaison with key management personnel in all departments, offices and divisions, including US and MLC Project Superintendents, Deputy Project Superintendents, Type Desk Personnel, engineering supervisors, supply supervisors, surveyors and other personnel involved in shipboard engineering work as required to ensure effective execution of the Industrial Ship Fire Safety Prevention and Response program;
  • this includes, but is not limited to, maintaining effective liaison with Fire & Emergency Service Prevention and Response personnel.

  • The Contractor shall provide assistance as directed by the Fire Safety Division Chief including, but not limited to, requisitioning, maintaining, and inventory of divisional supplies, review and development of divisional processes and procedures, and participation in fire safety prevention and response process improvement working groups.
