Amazon’s Consumer Payments Japan organization is seeking an experienced product manager to join the Payments Acceptance and Experience team in Tokyo.
The organization is looking for an innovative leader to join the team and own important aspects of how our customers pay on Amazon.
co.jp from improving the payment experience we offer to managing the relationships we have with our payments industry partners in Japan.
In this role, you will be responsible for owning and negotiating payment industry partnerships with key payment partners specifically focusing on overseeing our overall cost of payments and improving our operational efficiency with our partners.
You will also lead the team and influence a dedicated technology team to launch new partners and payment methods. You will ground your product vision with direct customer research and dive deep with business and technical leaders to drive the daily prioritization decisions to deliver the best experience to Amazon customers.
There is also an increased focus on compliance initiatives local to the JP market. This role will provide thought leadership on how we solve this for Amazon.
While leading product management Japan, you will align with the Global Payments Acceptance team in the US and in the EU to ensure alignment on global relationships and global strategies.
This role is designed for a product manager who lives and breathes payments and is ready to innovate not just on the Amazon buying experience, but how Amazon operates in the Japan payment industry.
You will work with a team of product managers and developers along with the largest partners in the payments industry to deliver best-in-class economics, operations and customer experiences.
You will own the long term vision for Payment Acceptance in Japan and determine which payment methods Amazon should accept and where we should invest to improve the paying customer experience.
You will build a deep network of contacts within the Payments space in Japan, including banks, card networks, acquirers and processors.
As a product leader at Amazon, all innovations start with the customer and work backwards. This approach requires a wide range of experience.
Strong writing skills are required to convey your product vision through the value delivered to the end customer. Expect to dive deep into customer metrics, competitive benchmarking and payments data to inform your strategy.
You will work with a cross functional team within Amazon including but not limited to engineering, customer service, payment acceptance, customer marketing and the broader retail organization.
Minimum 5+ years of product management industry experience
Experience in building and analyzing cost / benefit scenarios and communicating results throughout the organization
Professional experience with product management methodologies
Extensive relationship management experience with complex, sophisticated counterparts in the payments industry
Fluent (written & spoken) in English and Japanese
Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Ability to lead, drive consensus and deliver in a matrix organization with multiple stakeholders
Strong understanding of payments domain and network of payments industry contacts
BA or BS in Business, Finance or Economics
Degree in Engineering or Computer Science considered a plus, but not required
Strong financial analysis experience
