The advertising business is one of four focus areas of Rakuten. Currently, we at Rakuten are challenging ourselves to expand our revenue from the advertising business from JPY 96bn to JPY 200bn by 2021.

As one of the key strategic initiatives to achieve this ambitious goal, the Brand Marketing Platform Group is developing a comprehensive marketing platform, which enables our clients to fully utilize Rakuten's assets such as owned / paid media, demographic data, and purchase behavior data, and to accelerate their marketing and branding activities.

In this position, the Senior Solution Architect will play a key role in business problem solving from a technology standpoint.

You will have both a business and technical perspective, and will turn high-level business problems from our clients and sales / product team into actual solutions.

You will also drive technical collaborations among cross-functional, cross organizational and cross-border teams. There are multiple career-building opportunities for a talented solution architect to accelerate our advertising business with fully utilizing assets inside and outside of Rakuten.

  • Responsibilities : Take accountability for business problem solving from our clients and sales / product team Work closely with product managers and other business-side stakeholders with different knowledge and background, and contribute to solving business issues which are related to the marketing platform Partner with a program manager and delivery managers in prioritization and planning for solution development, with flexibly aligning with volatile business environment, social circumstances, and competitive situations Understand business needs, goals and KPIs, and coordinate multiple tech teams inside and outside of Rakuten, to translate business requirements into actual solutions Lead project planning and execution, and achieve business requirements, goals, and KPI / KGI Collaborate with cross-functional, cross-organizational and cross-border teams to integrate with internal and external systems, platforms, and services Develop and maintain a deep understanding of systems, services and platforms inside and outside of Rakuten, and propose best-of-breed solutions Stay current on emerging services and conduct independent research to support business needs and requirements Drive or participate in technology vendor discussions, evaluations, and selections Minimum Qualifications : 5+ years of experience in software development including solution or technical architecture experience Experience in project planning and execution Basic understanding of digital marketing ecosystem and its technologies;
  • actual work experience is a plus Worked closely with business stakeholders; experience in marketing or advertising area is a plus Strong analytical and quantitative problem solving ability Proactive self-starter with self-motivated mind Strong get-things-done mind with a sense of ownership Excellent communication, relationship skills and a strong team player Fluent Japanese communication skill Business level English communication skill Preferred Qualifications : Experience with big data solutions - Hadoop, Hive, Spark, Kafka, etc.

    Experience in BI / DWH / ETL system development / support Experience with BI tools - Tableau, MicroStrategy, etc. Retail or e-commerce industry experience Consumer packaged goods or durable goods industry experience Languages : English (Overall - 4 - Fluent), Japanese (Overall - 4 - Fluent)
